Completed in August 2020, here is another in a series of oval hole mandolins featuring figured black walnut back, sides and neck in a “V” style construction and finished in hand applied oil varnish. The walnut offers a slightly softer, sweeter tone than the more traditional maple, complimenting the general tonal goals of the oval hole mandolin. In combination with the V style construction, with overhangs and inlaid perflings around the perimeter of the top and back in place of binding, this is a truly unique instrument, allowing the figured walnut to stand out, with no other glitzy appointments. Just simple, organic beauty. You won’t find another mandolin like it anywhere.
