.     This just completed in Sept. 2021, a first time build for me. I’ve had requests for a short scale F style octave for some time. This is the result of shared ideas and specs from an overseas builder. I couldn’t be happier with the results and am hoping to make more in the future. My typical octave has a 22 3/4″ scale. The 19″ scale length here allows for a more fluent, faster left hand. The deeper rib width adds depth, woodiness and warmth to the tones with a richness that builds the higher up the neck you play. Please give a listen to the audio samples below to see what I mean. It also features the following:

  • Englemenn spruce top with tone bars
  • Figured 2 piece maple back, maple sides and neck
  • fully bound in Ivoroid
  • Brushed brass snakewood Rubner tuners
  • 1 5/16″ width bone nut
  • EVO gold frets
  • Shop made ebony adjustable bridge/saddle
  • Adjustable truss rod and 3 piece laminate neck construction
  • “soft V’ neck profile neck, 22.5mm thick at 1st fret
  • James tailpiece in silver
  • 12″ Radiused fingerboard with MOP dots and side markers
  • hand brushed oil varnish finish, rubbed out to a satin sheen
