Just completed in October of 2024, this custom build features a one piece maple back, James tailpiece and Rubner tuners. Ed describes the mandolin better than I can:

“Hi Don,
I couldn’t be happier with #302. I wish I had the vocabulary to describe the tone. I wanted a maple body for the brightness and volume it gets but this instrument also has a sweetness and bell like chime. The G and D strings are bold and resonant. It’s very balanced. This morning I was startled by how it’s opening up.

I had been used to a “D” neck but I find your soft V neck taper lies in my hand very comfortably
The Rubner tuners were a pleasant surprise in terms of how easy it was to tune. I’m used to having some trouble getting my electronic tuner to settle right on the note but the Rubners are very precise. Also, the snake wood buttons on the brass tuners are lovely. Finally, your craftsmanship is superior, not a blemish anywhere. Well done.

Regards Ed”
