Completed in September of 2024, this one features a one piece back, figured maple back and Englemenn top, Rubner tuners with Mother of Pearl buttons and a James tailpiece. Here are the words of the new owner after it arrived.
“The mandolin arrived in what appears to be perfect condition and traveled well. It is absolutely stunning. Even though I had seen several photos, I could immediately see what you meant about the back – photos simply do not capture the amazing holographic figuring. I can’t believe I now own a mandolin that is this uniquely beautiful. I barely had the chance to strum a note last night, but was able to spend about 30 minutes with it this morning. This is my first custom build, and I don’t think I have ever held a mandolin this fresh, so I didn’t know what to expect. The feel and playability are great; the setup is perfect. Even over the course of the 30 minutes, I could feel it waking up and the tone deepening and filling out. For a brand-new build, I was surprised at how much tonal complexity it already has, and I sense it is only beginning its development. I will follow up with you as I continue to play it in, but the short version is I love it and it has exceeded my already high expectations out of the gate. I really appreciate your patience with me as I perseverated over aesthetic and mechanical details. As you said early on, good looks don’t hurt but it is the sound that counts – fortunately for me (and your other 300+ customers), your artistry and craftsmanship have produced an instrument that doesn’t require compromise and delivers true beauty in both sound and form. “
